Abstract

After the creation of Prophet Adam (AS), Allah created his life partner, Bibi Hawa. From that time on, instructions were revealed in every divine book regarding the position, protection and role of women. The dignity, honor and perfection that Islam has bestowed upon man are not limited to men only, but also include women. It is mentioned in the Quran :” This address is for both men and women.  Human does not only mean male, but its means both sexes male & female. And their role in maintaining social life is no less than that of men. Both men and women are playing their role in shaping society. It has made it essential for a joint struggle based on men and women to maintain peace and tranquility in society. History shows that society where women are granted their rights have progressed and remained peaceful, while societies that have denied or trampled women's rights often face chaos and decline.

This article discusses the status and rights of women in ancient civilizations pre-Islamic era, and post-Islamic era.
