In the Context of the Hadith of Umm Zar’a Contemporary Women’s Marital Attitudes and Guidance: An Analytical Study

Abstract

This study examines contemporary women’s marital attitudes and the guidance derived from the Hadith of Umm Zar‘, highlighting its relevance to modern social and familial contexts. The research employs a historical-analytical method, beginning with the Hadith text and classical commentaries, followed by an interpretative analysis of its moral and social implications in relation to present-day marital practices. The Hadith of Umm Zar’a offers a multidimensional framework of spousal behavior, emphasizing emotional expression, loyalty, justice, and appreciation in marital life. When critically analyzed, it provides ethical lessons and guidance addressing challenges faced by contemporary women in their relationships. The study concludes that the Hadith of Umm Zar’a remains a valuable source of practical marital guidance, bridging classical Islamic heritage with contemporary social needs. This paper contributes an original analytical reading of a classical Hadith narrative, connecting it with modern marital issues and offering constructive insights for women’s guidance.
