The meaning of narrative: A research study in a contemporary context

Abstract

This study is an overview to investigate about the concept of narrative as a central category in literary theory, cultural studies and cognitive inquiry. This paper examines narrative not as a form of storytelling but as a universal tool that helps humans to interpret and organize experience. The interdisciplinary expansion of narratolgy into psychology, anthropology and media studies is also highlighted demonstrating the adaptability of narrative theory to diverse contexts. The study also urges that narrative operates simultaneously as a textual construct, a cognitive framework and a cultural practice affirming its enduring significance in human communication and thought.
