Abstract

The Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ represents a foundational turning point in Islamic history, marking the establishment of the first Islamic society in Madinah and the beginning of a new socio-religious framework. This study examines the narrations related to the Prophet’s migration and reception in Madinah through a critical isnād-based analysis of Musnad Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī. The research focuses on evaluating the authenticity, reliability, and scholarly significance of selected reports concerning the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ, the emotional response of the people of Madinah, and the role of early companions in facilitating the prophetic migration. Methodologically, the study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach within the framework of classical ḥadīth criticism. The chains of transmission are examined by analysing the biographical evaluations of narrators using major works of jarḥ wa taʿdīl. Special attention is given to narrators such as al-Aʿmash, Qatādah, and other transmitters appearing in the selected reports, including the issue of tadlīs and the conditions of transmission. The study finds that most of the examined narrations are supported by reliable transmitters, and when corroborated through mutābiʿāt and shawāhid, they reach the level of authenticity acceptable to ḥadīth scholars. The findings highlight that these narrations not only preserve historical details of the Hijrah but also reflect the spiritual enthusiasm, communal solidarity, and social transformation associated with the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ in Madinah. The study contributes to the field of ḥadīth studies by presenting a structured isnād-based evaluation of historical prophetic traditions.
