Abstract

Imam Abu Ja’far Tahavi was a traditionist (Muhadith) and Hanafi Jurist as he made a great contribution in both Hadith and Jurisprudence. In this research paper his point of view about Nullification has been presented with examples from his books. It is a fact that (hadiths) of the Holy Prophet (Allah’s peace and blessing be upon Him) also have nullification like that in the verses of the Holy Qur’an. So if a scholar does not have proper knowledge about it, he will not be able to solve the issues does not have proper knowledge about it, he will not be able to solve the issues properly. Imam Tahavi used different methods to identify the reasons of nullification in hadiths. He identified and stated that if any Sahabi narrated the hadith and then he gave the verdict (fatwa) against his own narrated hadith, it would reveal that the hadith narrated by him had been nullified by another hadith according to which he gave the verdict.
