Understanding the call to religion and its contemporary requirements
Keywords:
calling to religion, the Holy Quran, goodness, purpose of the Quran.Abstract
Calling means calling people to something that will guarantee their well-being and prosperity, and that call is “calling to religion,” the purpose of which is to enjoin goodness and forbid evil so that the good of this world and the Hereafter can be achieved through it. In the Holy Quran, calling is also called calling to Allah, and calling to Allah includes all kinds of goodness and forbidding from every act that may cause Allah’s displeasure. Allah Almighty says: And who is better in speech than he who calls to Allah and does righteous deeds and says, “Indeed, I am of the Muslims.” And whose speech is better than he who calls to Allah and does righteous deeds and says, “I am of the Muslims.” The greatest source of invitation to Allah is the Holy Quran. Whoever invites to this great book, in reality, his invitation is an invitation to Allah, as Maulana Sufi Abdul Hamid Swati writes in his commentary on this verse: Whoever recites the Holy Quran and conveys its message to others, he certainly invites to Allah. When an invitation is given through the Quran, it will certainly contain the command to believe in Allah and obey Him, and all kinds of differences will also be eliminated, and this is the purpose of the Quran.
