Abstract

This article seeks to provide a descriptive and analytical perspective about Dr. Muhammad Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui’s views of Islamic perspective regarding pluralist society. Dr. Yaseen Mazhar Siddiqui's work explores the intersection of Islam and plural societies, emphasizing the importance of Muslims in diverse societies demonstrating their commitment to serving all people, regardless of background. Dr. Muhammad Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui is of the opinion that Islam was presented as a ruling religion and dominant way of life based on historical developments and revolutions since the beginning of Islam. Muslim intellectuals, during their prime-days on the global stage, formulated and organized jurisprudential rulings for the Muslim minority in a sovereign manner, due to which the Muslim minority in a pluralistic society did not have a clear plan of action and practical manifesto according to which they could live a religious and social life. In the case of a pluralistic society, Islam believes in and even admires Salad Bowl Pluralism. Islam wants this diversity to remain in society. In Islam, when it comes to religions, followers of every religion have the freedom to maintain their distinct religious identity. Peaceful dialogues are underway with the followers of different religions. People should be encouraged to seek the truth with their own willingness and happiness, without any coercion or compulsion. What is missed by Dr. Siddiqui in his writings is two different states of the sovereign power of Islam. In a society where the people of Islam do not have the sovereign power, they are commanded to strive for this power and to be prepared to achieve it. When this the sovereign power is achieved, then through it, they should establish the supreme sovereignty of Allah the Almighty on that part of the society.
