This research critically analyzes the objections raised by British Orientalist D. S. Margoliouth regarding the preservation and authenticity of the Qur’an. Margoliouth questioned the completeness and uniformity of the Qur’anic text, citing variations in early manuscripts, oral transmission, diverse readings (qirāʾāt), and abrogation (naskh). He argued that the Qur’an was not fully compiled during the Prophet Muhammad’s lifetime and underwent editorial and political processes under the caliphs. The study evaluates the credibility of these claims in the light of classical Islamic scholarship and primary sources, presenting counterarguments that affirm the meticulous preservation of the Qur’anic text through both memorization and documentation from the time of revelation. It concludes that Margoliouth’s criticisms lack objectivity and are based on partial evidence and misinterpretation of Islamic traditions.
