Abstract

This study examined how BS student’s perceived using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to learn English, as well as how students observed and participated in the usage of AI tools. Data was acquired using a quantitative research approach through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through SPSS at the Lahore campus of COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan. Most students believe that using Artificial Intelligence tools, such as Grammarly and ChatGPT, improves their learning experience and English competence, including motivation, fluency, grammar, and engagement, based on the results. Nevertheless, a considerable proportion of students expressed neutral or ambivalent views, indicating that the value of AI replacing traditional learning methods would not be equally favorable to all students. The results show that although AI technologies often have high potential in augmenting language teaching provision, both online AI and conventional real classroom work should be combined from now on if we are to satisfy all learning needs. Future research needs to delve deeper into these issues to provide more effective artificial intelligence in schools.
