This study explores the role of parabolic expression (tamthīl) in the propagation of Islam, focusing on the methods employed by the Tābiʿīn (the successors of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ). It highlights how the Tābiʿīn effectively utilized parables, analogies, and illustrative narratives to communicate complex religious concepts in a simple, engaging, and impactful manner. The research examines the intellectual and pedagogical dimensions of their approach, demonstrating how these methods facilitated better understanding, retention, and practical application of Islamic teachings among diverse audiences. Furthermore, the study analyzes the contemporary relevance of these parabolic methods in modern da‘wah contexts, where communication challenges demand clarity, relatability, and emotional connection. By drawing parallels between classical practices and present-day needs, the paper argues that the revival of such illustrative techniques can significantly enhance the effectiveness of Islamic preaching in the current era. The study adopts an analytical and descriptive methodology, supported by examples from early Islamic history and scholarly interpretations.
