Sahih al-Bukhari, compiled by Imam Muhammad al-Bukhari (810-870 CE), stands as the most revered and authoritative collection of hadiths (sayings and traditions of Prophet Muhammad) in Sunni Islam. However, accessing its rich wisdom has been a challenge for non-Arabic speakers. Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan's English translation and commentary, spanning nine volumes, aims to bridge this gap. This article critically examines Khan's work, analyzing its strengths and limitations in terms of accuracy, accessibility, and theological interpretations. While acknowledging its immense contribution to hadith scholarship, the article also highlights areas for further consideration, particularly regarding nuanced theological perspectives and the evolving context of contemporary Muslim communities.
